A microwave oven has a very different working as compared to traditinal ovens. The Micro mode are known to heat the food using the dielectric heating where microwave radiations are passed within the food and thus food is known to cook quickly and evenly as compared to rest of the ovens.
If ask about a compromise, The micro mode does not brown or burn the food as the conventional cases may do, so few foods may not get that perfection for example Tandoori Chicken or Tikka, but that may not said to be a flaw.
Apart of this one reason, Micro mode is said to consume less energy and thus is energy efficient. Moreover reheating food or cooking regularly mostly all the foods becomes much more easier. There are many convenient segments that microwave oven is known to do, thus making our lives easy.
I believe a microwave oven is one of the important gadgets in the kitchen in each and every household.

Since you mention that this gift would be for your mom, then no doubt it has to be perfect. I have always preferred Samsung Microwaves over others, not because I would say that other companies don't manufacture good microwaves, but I just believe in Samsung Microwaves for the perfection and desired results. The above model is good and so are most of the other Samsung Microwave oven models. I have been owning one for last 10 years and to tell you to truth it is just going on fine even today. They also seem to be long lasting.
You go for any model in Samsung, but definitely buy one with the BIO CERAMIC ENAMEL COATING, as they don't get worn out or get scratched. Similarly the coating makes it easy to clean and you don't have to worry about rust. A damp cloth can just wipe out the food leftovers on the walls of these microwave. Most of all it is said that the Bio Ceramic Enamel Coating is known to produce less oxidation unlike the steel coating and thus one can ensure lot of nutrients retained in the food.
I am sure your mom would definitely like the gift and yes there won't be any trouble for her while using these microwave oven, as they are pretty user-friendly.

Yeah if you are looking for crisp bread and cakes then definitely you should go for a oven within a microwave, as you also need a microwave for its other features like smart cooking, reheating, microwave etc. But indeed microwave does not give the crisp effect like a oven. So if you really wish to have a crisp effect to your food you should definitely go for the microwave which offers oven features too. If you had mentioned the model name I could check the features. Let me see which model you are exactly talking about! But anyways if the model promises oven feature then you should definitely go for it!

This is the same model which I have mentioned above and yes it has the feature of a traditional oven apart from regular microwave grilling, convection and microwave features. For example how does this CQ 138S-G differ from CE117PF ?
I notice that this CQ 138S-G is listed under Smart Ovens, whereas CE117PF is listed under Microwave->Convection ovens.
(Background info regarding our intended usage:
we need a good and proper oven for baking cakes, cookies, breads, pies, etc
and the microwave for mostly re-heating, de-frosting only.)
The usual microwave ovens which have a convection mode do not do as good a job, as the normal/plain ovens, when it comes to regular baking of cakes, and pies.

ReplyDeleteYes I think its an excellent option to buy a Samsung CQ 138S-G, since it allows you to use traditional oven features with rest of the microwave features. Great fusion.
Most of the top microwave models can be built-in nowadays inside the kitchen cabinets. However with the traditional oven feature within this Samsung Microwave gets me a little bit worrying too. I am seriously not convinced that the vents will ensure proper cooling with the traditional oven feature. I would suggest that you please check out with the Samsung technicians for the same before you decide to buy! Great thinking on your part!

The oven seems to gr8 with the Charcoal Lighting Feature it provides. How good to cook rotis and all other Indian breads as well as Indian barbecues at home. Though all features look fascinating, I am slightly worried about the stainless steel cavity which can get rusty after prolong use. Rest all is just fine about this model.

I have visited a couple of electronic stores and tried to find out from the sales representatives about this feature. They don't seem to know much. I had a samsung oven (Microwave + Grill + Convection) with the ceramic coating for last 3 years. Can you pls tell me the following:
1. How good is the traditional oven feature. As in, does it achieve browning of the cake, nan-khatai etc. like the traditional OTG did.
2. Is it distinctly better than the earlier ceramic coated samsung microwaves with grill + Convection.
3.This is 10k more than any other samsung microwave. Does it do any justice to the price. We would be pleased to go for it only if the traditional oven features are really good.
4. How are the user reviews on the traditional oven feature. Couldn't find much on the net.

DeleteI know how you feel, because I am too surprised myself. Though Samsung particularly boasts about this particular feature it has provided in this smart oven, I could not find how this feature really works.
I actually downloaded the manual for this oven and tried searching the feature, and to my surprise there was nothing mentioned about it. I am sure you tried that too and would have found nothing.
How pathetic is that.. When I tried calling their customer care, I was bombarded with n number of questions, but reply to my answer. Since I don't own this oven I couldn't provide them with the details and thus couldn't get a reply. Why don't you try calling 1800 110011, and provide the details. I am sure they can help you. 1) I love to bake and have been using my mother's Siemens cooking range for baking, with great results. I am wondering if the CQ 138S-G would be just as good as the conventional oven to bake cakes, cookies, etc. (My MAIN INTENTION for buying this product would be for baking). Or would I be better off just buying a good OTG (if so, what brand and which model)?
2) In terms of the microwave function, I am not looking for much; just reheating.

ReplyDeleteI own the Samsung CQ138S-G oven. It is a good oven, but a BIG word of caution.
Samsung does not have any parts for servicing the above oven. A component of my oven was damaged, and I have been running from pillar to post for the past 3 weeks to get it repaired. And I have just been told that the part is not available so Samsung will refund me just part of the money I spent for buying the oven.
The Samsung customer care has been abysmally useless throughout this ordeal. And they never provide you with any updates. I have had to call them up regularly to get updates about my complaint.
This is not a cheap oven. So I didnt expect a company like Samsung to behave in such a manner. And even though it is a very good oven, I would not recommend anyone else to buy this oven, simply because of the pain you will have to go through with repairs for this.

Only the difference I found is more auto cook and Indian menus in these two models. Does the voice guide feature really worth and the cooking menus really helpful in using a microwave? Shall I choose a model having voice guide feature or shall I go for a model, which gives me more cooking menus? Please help me for the right choice and recommend for a perfect one.
